My sister and I just arrived in Quebec City for the first time today! After taking the VIA Rail and dropping our suitcases off at our Airbnb, we were on the hunt for a good lunch spot around 1pm and we stumbled upon Gao. What a gem! We both ordered the shrimp bun cha gio, and honestly, it was one of the best I’ve had (and I live in Halifax, NS!). Everything was so fresh and flavorful, beautifully presented, and the portion was just right. The prices were very reasonable for the quality, and the service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The ambience was also lovely modern yet cozy, with a relaxed vibe that made us feel instantly comfortable after a long travel morning. Highly recommend this spot whether you’re visiting or local. We left happy, full, and already talking about coming back before our trip ends!

The best Vietnamese restaurant in town, we went there two times during our visit in Quebec. Their pork dumplings, pho, Mi quang, Mi Xa siu, meat dish are all pretty good. Highly recommended to all and family friendly too.

Overall, the experience was okay — a fairly average pho place. Both the pho and the fresh rolls were decent but nothing particularly memorable. Service was also average, acceptable but not especially attentive. It’s a reasonable option if you’re nearby and looking for a simple Vietnamese meal, but probably not a place I’d go out of my way to visit. 4 stars overall, with room for improvement in both food and service.

Little spot for Pho, quite a rare find for this part of Quebec. Was lucky to play backgammon there with maybe the owner, the board was already there, makes it feel friendly and welcoming. Better spot than the other place up the street were you feel like in a baby crib.. there's more seating in the back.

If its a very cold day, come here to have a bo kho as you will not be disappointed. The beef melts in your mouth while the soup is very hearty and a little bit spicy which helps with the cold weather. Owner is also friendly and the waiter is amazing! Will be coming back here just for this dish.

I had a chicken pho yesterday for lunch. It was clear broth and tasty noodles that I enjoyed it. Recommended, specially like during this cold weather.

This was the first restaurant we tried in Quebec, and it made a great first impression. The broth was noticeably sweet, and the turmeric noodle soup had a nice garlic flavor, which was quite unique. Overall, a very enjoyable meal — would recommend.

This is one of the best Vietnamese spots I’ve come across. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came in generous portions—perfect for a filling meal. Prices were reasonable, especially for the quality. The restaurant itself is simple, but very clean and comfortable. The staff were super friendly and made sure everything was just right. Great place for a casual, satisfying meal! Loved this place!
